o what isn’t commonly known about me is that I was an unashamed cycling enthusiast long before starting Line3 Bikes. Although this company’s founding allows me to live out my childhood love for building bikes, it doesn’t play a significant role in my passion for riding them. My love for bike riding developed out of necessity. The necessity I’m referencing here is my mental wellbeing. The long and short of it is, biking contributes to my ability to maintain a more balanced life. Whenever I’m feeling stressed or a little off kilter, my Zen place is atop two wheels and an aluminum frame. For some, riding is a tool that helps them with weight loss, building endurance, or some other physical fitness goal. My love of riding is more about the need to create a space where I can stay connected to…me.
The physical benefits are a huge bonus, but I cannot overemphasize the advantage of one’s mental wealth. A quick google search will reveal countless studies touting the benefits of cycling consistently. One study conducted by the YMCA showed that people with a physically active lifestyle had a wellbeing score of 32% higher than inactive individuals. Numerous studies have also concluded that bike riding has helped individuals with mild to moderate depression. These studies come as no surprise to anyone who has already chosen to lead an active lifestyle. Whether you want to cycle to get fit, for competitive purposes, or even for social reasons, riding a bicycle regularly is an excellent way to keep your mind and body happy. I believe bike riding is an excellent source of Cycle-Therapy!
